Travel ball entry fees: what tournaments actually charge
Updated , with numbers from 1,013 upcoming tournaments
“How much is a travel ball tournament?” has a real answer, because we track the per-division entry fee of every tournament we list. As of October 13, 2026, across the 8,919 divisions with a posted fee at 1,013 upcoming USSSA events in eight states:
- Half of all divisions charge between $184 and $375.
- The median is $299.
- The top 5% (world series, national championships, and the biggest qualifiers) run $683 and up, topping out at $1,449.
The fee is per team, split across the roster. On a typical 11-player roster, the median tournament is about $27 per family, which is why entry is usually the smallest line in the real cost of a weekend.
Fees climb with age
| Age group | Typical range (middle 50%) | Median |
|---|---|---|
| 6U–8U | $132–320 | $210 |
| 9U–12U | $195–357 | $289 |
| 13U–18U | $237–415 | $375 |
Older divisions play longer games on bigger fields with pricier umpires, and the fee follows. Fastpitch runs higher than baseball at the median ($368 vs $275). Not sure which age group your player is in? USSSA age divisions explained has the current cutoff dates.
Never trust a single “fee range” for a whole event. A tournament running 8U through 18U can span $150 to $400 across its divisions. That's why every event page here shows the fee per division (the number your team actually pays), not a range.
What the fee buys: games guaranteed
Entry fees only compare honestly on a per-game basis. Nearly every division we list carries a “games guaranteed” number: about 68% guarantee 3 games, about 23% guarantee 4, and a few guarantee 5 or more. The arithmetic that matters:
$250 entry ÷ 3 games ÷ 11 players ≈ $7.60 per player-game
$150 one-day, 4 games guaranteed ÷ 11 players ≈ $3.40 per player-game
A cheap-looking weekend event can cost twice as much per game as a modest one-day. The format matters too: “pool to single elimination” means a bad Sunday draw ends your day, while round-robin formats deliver the guarantee more predictably.
When the entry fee is $0 (and when it's actually free)
462 divisions at 37 upcoming events on our board show $0 entry. Most are not free. 26 of those events are marked “PAP”: the team pays per game at the field, $40 to $60 a game in our listings, instead of paying at registration. The money moved; it didn't disappear.
A smaller set is genuinely free: a few directors waive entry outright, often for holiday-themed events, and a handful (3 right now) charge nothing for only their youngest divisions, 7U and 8U. Those are real and worth grabbing; just read which kind of $0 you're looking at. On the event page, a per-game division shows its charge right under the division name (“PAP - $60.00/GAME”).
Questions to ask before you pay
- What happens on a rainout? Refund, partial refund, or credit toward a future event? Directors vary widely, and the policy is rarely on the flyer.
- Is there a per-game charge at the field? “PAP” divisions collect $40–60 a game at the venue instead of an entry fee. Budget for the games, not the $0.
- What's the gate? The gate fee can add more per family than the entry share.
- How full is the division? A division at 2 of 10 teams two weeks out may consolidate or cancel; every event page here shows each division's fill, refreshed daily, so you can see it coming.
